Children’s Hope India presents its very popular annual women’s luncheon on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at the Carltun at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York.  Funds raised at this year’s luncheon will benefit Children’s Hope India’s educational programs for the girl child in India and the New York Metropolitan Area.

In addition to supporting several schools in India, including the newly opened Children’s Hope India Girls School in Bhopal (CHI’s first all-girls, English-medium secondary school which will educate up to 800 girls), CHI supports education in the New York Metro Area, specifically an after-school tutorial program for children of previously incarcerated mothers in Hempstead and a STEAM program for children in shelters in the Bronx.

A highlight of the spring luncheon is the Woman of Distinction Award, given to a woman who has managed to balance the challenges of the workplace, home and social responsibility. This year we are honoring Divya Gugnani.  Divya brings 20 years of investment and entrepreneurial experience to her role as Co-founder of Wander Beauty, a brand focused on multitasking beauty essentials created with global inspiration. Prior to that, she co-founded Send the Trend, an e-commerce site focused on personalized fashion and beauty, and sold it to QVC, where she focused on digital innovation. She is a serial entrepreneur and has co-founded multiple companies.

Divya started her business career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and then moved on to private equity and venture capital at Investcorp International and FirstMark Capital. Divya launched her own investment fund, Concept to Co, in 2014. She has personally angel-invested or invested through Concept to Co in over 63 companies across multiple sectors. Divya has appeared regularly on several shows on CNBC, NBC, and MSNBC. She has also been featured in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, BusinessWeek, TIME Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Deal, and Crain’s, among several other publications. Divya has contributed to various online outlets and print magazines and authored the book Sexy Women Eat: Secrets to Eating What You Want and Still Looking Fabulous, published by HarperCollins. In addition to a B.S. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, Divya attended the French Culinary Institute.

The spring luncheon is organized by the CHI benefit committee comprising of Long Island residents Babita Advani, Milan Devjani, Aarti Kamat, Moneesha Sani and Madhulika Shroff. It is coordinated by Jharna Jaisinghani of Artistic Affairs, and DJ Sharad will provide the fun music for this lively event.

Come enjoy an afternoon of great food, fun cocktails, and shopping with various amazing local Long Island vendors who are supporting Children’s Hope. Indeed it is a celebration of young women who are achieving so much! Some of the vendors participating in the event include:
