At Children’s Hope India we don’t just show the way, we walk together. To truly improve the lives of the most impoverished children, we firmly believe you need ...
Our approach reaches from the cradle to the career, holistically addressing the needs that prevent children from accessing education and achieving their dreams. For this reason, our projects do more than provide schooling; we provide counseling, nutrition, healthcare, music, dance, and more. And we work with children from infancy through to young adulthood.
We work with children throughout India and in New York, where our founders and so many members of our community live.
At Children’s Hope India we don’t just show the way, we walk together. The core of CHI’s work is to partner with on-the-ground, often grassroots projects, that share our vision to change and enrich the lives of children. With flexible funding and a close relationship with staff and leadership, our goal is to create a cycle of impact with every partner in our network. Our board members visit partner projects, provide critical oversight, and steer growth. We set and achieve goals all while keeping overhead costs low.
To effect change, we realize we have to address wider social and economic issues in the communities where we work. We support projects that tackle challenges such as HIV and AIDS, drug abuse, and violence against women. We also raise awareness of the importance of hygiene, nutrition and family planning. We empower women with self-help groups and run microfinance initiatives to help them gain a livelihood. Learn more.
“Here I learn computers, Kathak, and Western dance. I do drama, I learn embroidery. In my off-time I like to read books, I have completed Shakespeare’s collection recently. My life has changed from there to here. Here, I feel I can achieve what I could not do there…I want to study hard to achieve something.”–-Rukshana, who participates in a CHI-funded project that serves children in the red-light area of Kolkata
