Christmas Apple Galettes with Chef Aarthi Sampath

Christmas Apple Galettes

Pie Dough (Makes 4 Galettes)

125g (1 cup) A.P flour (or a blend of any grain flour of choice)

114g(1 stick) unsalted butter cubed

1 tsp kosher salt

2 tsp sugar

1-2 T water

Mix together sugar, salt and flour. Rub butter into flour. Do not over mix. Form dough with 1-2 T of Ice cold water. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.


2 apples cored thinly sliced

1 tsp lemon juice

1/4 C maple Syrup

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp salt

In a bowl , gently mix all ingredients .

To Assemble and bake:

Cut Dough into 4 equal parts , roll out and place on a parchment lined tray. Place roughly 15-20 slices of apples. Crimp edges . Dot the top with a cube of butter. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes .
